Remember a few weeks back when we told you Karl Urban promised us HIS Judge Dredd wouldn't make us puke in our popcorn? Well, it was nice to hear that, but there was still no OFFICIAL confirmation that he was going to play Dredd. But now we DO have confirmation—and it's coming directly from the mouths of the movie's producers.
Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich confirmed that Urban was indeed cast as Dredd yesterday evening during BFI's Movie-Con III Q&A, currently taking place in London. And we think that it's always nice to hear these things from people other than the actors.

Macdonald also talked about the feel and tone of the new movie:
"The main thing about Dredd is that it's a fantastic comic that was completely messed up 20 years ago. Our idea is to make a very hard, R-rated, gritty, realistic movie of Dredd in Megacity, so we've got to get the tone right. He's not going to take off his helmet. His bike is going to feel real. He's going to hit people and it's going to feel real."
