Any Insurance people out there? I heard that they were adjuster jobs |
|
to be had. They require some certification. Can any one tell me the certification required to be a catastrophic insurance adjuster?

1. depends on the state. some have it, others don't require any cert. |

of course, if you are willing to sell your soul to the devil incarnate on mother Earth, there are plenty of insurance jobs to be had. They routinely fire older workers and replace them with cheaper, younger models, and they force you to work unpaid overtime worse than some Malayian shoe factory. But the benefits (heart break, stress, nasty insane bosses, and GREAT material for corporate stupidity and perversion) makes it all worthwhile.
They munch through people like I go through pretzels. And beer.

3. hahaha!! oh, the stories i could tell.... |
|
mrs. unblock's company seems to be managed by a bunch of feeble-minded people who couldn't cut it at a real company, so they manage according to the structure and the bureaucracy rather than managing to the needs of the customer or the efficiency of the task.
they routinely fire their best workers if, for instance, they are absent more than a few days and can't get a doctor's notice to excuse them -- as if it were high school!
if you claim to be sick, they might sent an investigator out to monitor your house (honest!) and see if you go out anywhere other than a doctor's or a pharmacy. pick up some dry cleaning on the way back from the doctor's and you're fired. they also encourage employees to rat each other out.
BUT the benefits are fantastic. we pay only $30 a month for health insurance, and it's a very good plan!

2. mrs. unblock does auto and homeowners', and has done health in the past. |
|
there are federal laws involved, but the details depend on which state you want to do business in.
the easiest way to get the training and the necessary certifications is to get hired at an insurance company. at first, you'll do the things that don't require any certifications or licenses. but as you prove yourself, they will give you classes and pay for your tests and so on. mrs. unblock seems to get a small promotion and even smaller raise every 6 months or so as she accumulates more and more certifications.
for others who may be able to provide more details, you might want to specify which state, and also if you are looking to work for a big insurance company, single agent shop, or strike out on your own.
good luck!!

himself hired to be a adjuster. We are both in TX but when he does Catastrophic adjusting (like he is now) he goes out of stat.Currently he is in Florida. This guy is a malcontent and been fired from every job he ever had. The truth be known he is just lazy. I can take any class he has and pass any test. That leads us to the question What if any certification would be deemed qualification to be a catastrophic insurance adjuster? I am not talking about sales. Thanks for your input.

5. i can't speak specifically to catastrophic, but in the other areas, |
|
it's just a matter of passing a written test, usually multiple choice. if your company isn't paying for it, there's probably a fee.
generally, you're supposed to take a course corresponding to each certification/license, but depending on the state, you might be able to take it cold, if you think you can pass.
from what i've seen of mrs. unblock's sample tests, anyone who's good at test-taking has a rather good shot at passing without knowing much of anything about insurance. if you do know a thing or two, even just through having filed a claim at some point, then you've got a very good chance.
kinda scary, huh?
