Is there a way to have a customer receive an automated thank you, or be directed to a thank you page at the website upon payment, with a basic Paypal account, or is that only possible via a business account?

Under the advanced settings (step 3) of the "create button" page, look for this: Take customer to a specific page (URL) after successful checkout

account, after all, to do most things. Perhaps it was available in basic before, GregD, but now that custom feature is only available with a business account.
