Amazon Associates - question for NC or Rhode Island DUer's....

perhaps Hawaii has been included now as well.

I'm working with a few authors who are selling books at Amazon and want to open a corresponding Amazon Associates account, with affiliate links, as well as create an Amazon store selling related merchandise along with the books.

I just discovered that due to some tax issue, Amazon has banned NC and RI residents from participating in the Amazon Associates program.

Has anyone here experienced this and, if so, do you have any clever workarounds to recommend or know something I've missed?
