4. When these megachurchers go before their Judge, they will have |
|
some explaining to do. If they make it in, their accomodations there will be pretty humble.

at which point the communities will get some spiffy concert venues.
It's not like they look particularly like religious arenas, any of them.

7. I view them, and well all churches as a way to enrich the clergy and impoverish the laity. |
|
Its just that megachurches are much more blatant about it than most churches, excepting elaborate cathedrals, but at least those have cultural value and are mostly aesthetically pleasing to look at.

10. True, and it costs cities large amounts of money... |

to maintain the roads and traffic such churches bring in, not to mention not being able to use the property for any other, taxable purpose, such as commercial or residential zoning.

12. I used to attend churches like these... |

They're fun, like going to the mall. It really is like that. I think I read someplace that these megachurches are little more than catchpockets for the already converted, who are dissatisfied with mainstream churches. They don't do all that much evangelism.

Issues with churches that give back to the community. We have some churches that do help the poor, but they are under attack from so businessmen, saying they are a nuisance.

I look at this and think: If this were an amphitheater for scientific lecture, and education, I would SWOON with a deep dee love for this structure and marvel at it's beauty and the power it holds for the sake of all humanity and our future.
As it is now, I look at this and get sick to the pit of my stomach, what a waste of time, money, space, thought, you name it. Disgusting.
