4. Yep, harsh and uncalled for. |
|
No reason to bring up that imagery.

8. As long as religious people tolerate other religious people doing it, there's reason to bring it up. |

10. I was thinking that there could be a thousand better ways to make the case. |
|
Than to invoke those thoughts.

12. People said the same thing about Rage Against the Machine, |
|
but while their lyrics, and this sign, may be harsh, they have most definitely been called for.

after all, he did play a direct role in keeping it on the forefront of peoples minds.

13. You may call it tasteless, offensive, crass, or any other of a myriad of adjectives, |
|
but one adjective it does not qualify for is "stupid". The analogy, however unwelcome, is apt.

14. Feh! I'm a strong atheist, but do not condone such messaging. |
|
It further hardens the dislike of and discrimination against atheists by the religious. It's entirely possible to state the same ideas without being vulgar.
This kind of thing does a real disservice to atheism.

19. Sometimes being blunt is the only way to get the point across. Furthermore, |
|
which part of the analogy is most offensive? Isn't that the entire purpose of using the analogy? To give people pause to think about what they are doing with their religion and the offensive way what they are doing might be seen by others?
Well, really, I do agree, most religionista's would only be offended by the language and the imagery created here, and that would serve quite well as an excuse for them not to do any more critical thinking about their behaviors at all, being that they are so out of the habit of doing much critical thinking in the first place.
