Edited on Sun Dec-05-04 07:11 PM by indianablue
It sucks and will continue to suck until a true playoif system is in place.
I know it about bowl games and the money but until their is a playoff system, I won't be watching it.

Number 1 vs. Number 2. That's the only "playoff" you really need. We won't get a playoff because the college presidents finally grew some balls and stood up to the ridiculous demand for a playoff.

i agree that BCS is moronic, but why does that stop you from just watching games and enjoying them? i dont watch the NFL for the superbowl, nor do i watch the NHL for the stanley cup

8. I would agree with you |

But then I think all football sucks To me it is boring to see 10 seconds of action followed by 5 minuets of the players milling around on the field. It takes 5 hours to play a one hour game.

You must really hate baseball. :-)
There's much more to the game than the action itself, which is also true in baseball. For pure action, hockey and basketball are probably the best major sports bets, but then I know people who think those games are boring because they are "all" action. Some will tell you that soccer is the most boring sport out there, and it's probably the most action intensive game there is.
Just depends on what you're into, I guess. I like the plotting, the strategy, the anticipation, etc, especially in college football. I tend not to like pro football because of how refined it has become, i.e. too predictable.
BTW, the average length of a football game, halftime included, is 3 hours, a bit longer if it is on television.

10. Actually I like baseball |
|
it is a relaxing game that features the individual when it is in the offense and the team in the defense. But did you ever here George Carlin little bit on comparing baseball to football? It was really interesting.
Only 3 hours ? I guess when you don;t "get it" it seems much longer.

Yeah, I've heard Carlin's bit. He's right, to an extent. It's a violent sport. A lot of sports are in one way or another. I mean, if you think about the original Olympics, most of the events were variations of activities carried out in battle or an homage to battle. It's the nature of the thing.
I actually like baseball better myself, or at least I did. A lot of the labor disputes and over-done egos lately have left me a bit cold.
As for the time thing, if you count in the pre-game and the post-game, it is more like 5 hours. That's the part about football I hate: all the talk about it before and after, although it is sometimes interesting to compare what was said before to what those same people say after. You tend to get a pretty clear picture that these guys that analyze games are well-paid seat covers.

And I like it because it is not a game. And it honest about the violence.
