No one can breathe in the (617) area code today.
We last won the Cup in 1972, when I was one year old.
Vancouver has never won the Cup, ever.
There has NEVER been a Finals Game 7 in the 87-year history of the Bruins. Not once. Ever.
And the Bruins are the first of the Original Six.
Vancouver has the tall advantage, both in recent and in extended history: they've won all three home-ice games, and home teams have won 12 of all the 16 Game 7s (and there have only been 16).
Stick your head out a window in (617) and all you hear is "BzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaahhhhhrrrrrggggghhhhhhh..."
This is the biggest game in recent (or extended) Boston sports history. The Sox in 2004 had five championships to their name when the deal went down...but, again, there has NEVER BEEN A GAME 7 IN THE ENTIRETY OF BRUINS HISTORY. Beating the Yankees in the ALCS was epic. This...this is true history.
We will know the truth of it by midnight, unless there is overtime.
I say: GO BRUINS!!!
I hope you all say: Go Hockey!!!
See you in a few hours, for good or ill.

2. Area Code 207 is a bit nervous, too. |

I remember the last Stanley Cup win. And the losses, too.
I always thought the "too many men on the ice" game (1979) was the SC final but it was the semi-finals. I still remember that game 7. Truly heart-breaking. Very similar to this series; both teams won the games at home, IIRC.
Go Bs!

3. I attended two game 7s in 2006. |

For the Eastern Conference Finals and the Stanley Cup. It was exhausting. Stood up the whole game in the finals. Anyway, congratulations to the Bruins. And hats off to Recchi for his third cup.

6. Good for the Bruins.... |
|
...they always have been the under-appreciated franchise in NE. Not tonight, though. And Tim Thomas...what can you say about that guy? Vancouver came out like gangbusters, but he was up to the task.
