I'll believe we've achieved racial equality when a Caucasian cornerback makes the Pro Bowl |
|
Seriously, why is that the most mono-racial job in sports? Other than NASCAR driver.

In ths south suburbs of chicago you can't go by ANY golf course and not see black guys playing, any weekend. Western suburbs too. Don't know about the northern suburbs. I'd never drive that far on a Saturday or Sunday to find out. GAC

And, outside of soccer, the NHL represents more countries than any other sport (there's even an Israeli hockey league). Willie O'Ree played for the Bruins back in the 50's, and has been called the Jackie Robinson of hockey.
Here's a list of current black players....
Forwards
* Canada Akim Aliu * Canada Paul Bissonnette * Canada Nigel Dawes * United States Robbie Earl * United States Mike Grier * Canada Jarome Iginla * Canada Evander Kane * United States Greg Mauldin * Canada Jamal Mayers * Canada Kenndal McArdle * United States Kyle Okposo * Canada Ryan Reaves * Canada Wayne Simmonds * Canada Anthony Stewart * Canada Chris Stewart * Canada Joel Ward
Defensemen
* Canada Shawn Belle * United States Francis Bouillon * United States Dustin Byfuglien * Canada Trevor Daley * Canada Maxime Fortunus * Canada Mark Fraser * Canada Derek Joslin * Sweden Johnny Oduya * Canada Theo Peckham * Canada Bryce Salvador * Canada P. K. Subban

only 6% of the country are racially identified as "asians, africans, or arabs", that's not too bad.

17. Odd that I see this thread |
|
and a few days later I read about role discrimination and the section mentioned that 96% of the NFL's cornerbacks are black.
It is something I never thought about even though CB is my favorite position on defense and some of my favorite defensive players play the CB such as Charles Woodson, Aaneas Williams. So it is strange for me that a topic I never thought about, read about it twice in two different places in under a week.
