I'm rooting for Cleveland to win the AL this year.

At least he won't have to bat as he had to in the backward and boring National League.

4. El Wrongo! Pitchers should have to bat just like everyone else. |
|
You guys bastardized the game by not letting the pitcher hit. I guess that is why it is called the "junior circuit".

He'll really like America's League.
And speaking of the National League and its "better strategy": I was watching the Rox and Pads yesterday. We were ahead 3-2 after 7 innings. Our pitcher, Juan Nicasio, was doing great with 10 Ks, but Tracy just had to pull him in the 8th for a pinch hitter. Not only did the PH strike out but our bullpen imploded in the bottom of the 8th and gave up 6 runs. Nicasio had made 98 pitches, 64 of them strikes. He was hot! He could have continued pitching. Bur nooooo, that insurance run that never materialized was more important.
Having the pitcher hit is a two edged sword stuck right in the chest of the fans. They can't hit and when they are pitching well they get pulled for a PH too soon.

7. That's what makes the National League much more exciting. If you want to watch |
|
pitch counters, then by all means watch the junior circuit.

11. That makes no sense, dumbass. |

The Nationals count the pitches more closely. The manager's balls start itching when the count gets to 90. They just have to yank the pitcher early if he's gonna be up.
Sorry for the Freudianisms.

5. He won't have to the face the Red Sox then... |
|
but he gets Texas.
Holy Ball Busters! The first half of August is brutal for Cleveland: Red Sox (4), Rangers (3), Tigers (3), Twins (3).

Even though the Sox have won every series with the Yankees this year (IIRC) I never take anything for granted with these two teams.

This thread is a weak attempt at tongue-in-cheek humor targeted to the many Red Sox fans who frequent this forum.

16. Red Sox 3 - Indians 2 |
|
Clinging to a one-game lead over the Yankees in the American League East standings, the Sox escaped with a 3-2 win over the Indians last night on Jacoby Ellsbury’s first career walk-off RBI before 38,101 at Fenway Park.
