I made a sale over coffee this morning

I'm still chortling.

A writer friend recommended a small e-press for short, erotic, futuristic/fantasy/paranormal romances, so while I was reading e-mail and drinking coffee this morning, I figured I'd send them them a story that got rejected by another publisher. I sent it at 8:57 am. They called on the phone at 9:20 am to offer a contract. That has to be some kind of record.

I had two very disappointing rejections last year -- for publishers that had already published me. Then, another from an agent this year. My ego was starting to hurt.

It's an e-pub. I don't know much about them except they were recommended by a friend.

When you say short story, how short do you mean?
I checked out the website, and saw nothing under 20000 words.
I have a short story that could apply but it's only about 8000 words.

Changeling does novellas and shorts. Novella would be 20K. The summer sizzler was something they offered to authors already under contract, so maybe your first sale to them needs to be 20K.

My original story with them was 35K words. Hope that helps.
