Damn, damn, damn, I can't get my story to come up |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-28-05 12:07 PM by Blue_Roses
when I try to pull it up from my floppy disk. I am about three chapters away from finishing this story and today when I went to pull it off my floppy disk, all I get is a blank screen, and an hour glass. I went to close programs to see what it was doing and all it said "Document--wordpad not responding" :argh: I have some other things on this disk that are coming up with no problem, but I can't get my story to come up. What is going on? What do you save your writing on to keep this from happeneing? :banghead:

1. This could be a problem with word |
|
I write directly to my hard drive.
See if you can save it to a text document on your hard drive, then try to transfer it to Word.

3. I can't get it to do anything. |
|
It still shows a blank screen with the hour glass. I don't understand what has happened, but it really pisses me off:mad:

5. I just showed this to my son, who is better at this than I am |
|
He suggested the same thing I did. He also thinks WordPad is too limited a tool for doing this kind of thing.
Simply to copy a:/filename.ext to c:/temp/filename.txt. Can you do this from Windows Explorer?
If not, you may try to get a computer geek friend to come over and help you.
If the problem is document size, I would also suggest that once you have your document downloaded, you try to save it as two or three smaller documents.

2. Possibly the floppy is close to full |
|
I would try to copy the file to your hard drive (My Documents) and open the copied one.
