Oh boy! I guess. My book is copyrighted. |
|
'Voyages of the Vicky Mary' (and other stories you might wish you had never read) received its copyright in the mail today.
Total time of process: Submitted by mail 9 Sept 2004, completed form received today. Total cost was two copies of the book, mailing and thirty dollars.

3. You already have a copyright |
|
What you received was a federal registration

The terminology is confusing. In one area; "The information on this certificate has been made a part of the Copyright Office records."
In another space it says; "Effective Date of Registration."
I expect that paper and two bucks be buying me a glass of beer if I still drank the stuff.
It is an ego thing!

10. Actually, it gives you the right to sue |
|
if someone copies part of your book.

it is a worthwhile thing or not. But if some of my "Stuff" no matter how poorly written starts showing up elsewhere I would be upset and I would say; "That is my property and you cannot use it damn it." I would show them my proof of ownership.
Also it is an ego thing which is why it was mentioned in the first place.

14. A work is automatically copyrighted at the time of its creation. |
|
And if you ever submit it for publication or to an agent, i highly recommend NOT adding the little copyright icon -- it's frowned upon on NYC.

16. So true. In fact I've read that it's considered 'amateurish' to.... |
|
copyright your writings. No offense intended to anyone, just the messenger here.
