| Poem about New Orleans (Floating Saints) |
|
I just wrote a poem about my feelings concering this tragedy. If anyone else would like to share their own poems, feel free.
Floating Saints
Cajun magic disappeared the day the levee broke
Liquid terror swept the cobblestone streets which was the dancing platform for tourists and hustlers looking for rum and visuals.
The storytellers of the old days was carried away to the underworld, leaving behind submerged dreams and artifacts.
Americans waded and swam through the oceanic sadness which took away their city. But the arms of America were crossed in confusion.
Dreams and desires were lost that day. Water logged party favors and beads floated by with the innocent folk who just witnessed a mass drowning.
Folded arms, come free and scoop up the survivors who may one day return to their city...
and rejuvinate the spirit of the Saints
