| Help! Do you remember this short story? I need a title, or author. |
|
The story starts out with a man and wife carving pumpkins on the porch. The man is a retired doctor, I think. The wife is younger. She goes in the house and glances at a letter from her husband's grown daughter. The daughter is angry because her father married a younger woman and she isn't going to send him a birthday present, or she has sent a small check - voided out, or something like that. I dont' remember the chronology, but at one point the wife comments on how much better her husband has carved his pumpkins than she has. Later she goes upstairs to bed and dies.
Do you remember it? Thanks!
