Anybody want to write a screenplay? |
|
Got a vague idea based on this..... http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1896768Premise: The White house Secret Service is so disgusted witht the President/Vice President that they go in the tank and stop actively protecting them. Could be a black comedy, could be a thriller.....

5. I came to this forum with the idea of a collaborative screenplay |

about the voting machines back in the winter of 2004-2005.
I thought it should be pretty easy to hammer out a two-page outline. Sid Field made it sound like "The China Syndrome" was blocked out by a workshop group in about twenty minutes.
Ultimately what I found was that everyone offered conflicting visions, many people offered vision but were unwilling to do work, and nobody but me was willing to do any work on anybody else's vision. The most developed angle involved a filmed version of "VoteScam," a property for which we did not own the rights, and for which I lacked enthusiasm because the technologies were from another era (shaved plastic wheels on lever-action machines, for example) and thus, I thought, confused the present issues.
I've sometimes wondered about the three secret service agents killed in an auto wreck in California back in the '80's and have considered the idea that they knew too much about something as a fictional possibility. That sounds like thriller material. Then I guess we'd need someone to investigate--perhaps a family member or girlfriend (ex-wife would involve interesting complications) who knows what they knew and thus might also be in danger. That could be very noirish.
One angle might be the question of why Bush stayed in that schoolroom on 9/11 when any sensible secret service agents would have rushed him to an undisclosed location.
In the black humor vein, a place to start would be what disgusted the agents. Bush doesn't take security very seriously and somebody steals the helicopter?

6. Sounds fun! Good premise... |

Me, I like a black comedy with a touch of Vonnegut style fantasy thrown in for good measure.
