Writing Group - Happy 2nd Anniversary!

I just noticed Skinner's welcome post is dated October 10, 2005. That makes this the 2nd anniversary of the DemocraticUnderground Writing Group.

Seems like a good opportunity to thank everyone for their contributions, for their work on The Necessary Language, and for their invaluable advice and input on such a wide variety of topics related to writing. Though this group seems rather quiet some days, it has been a wonderful tool to keep me motivated and a great source for ideas and information.

I've benefited hugely from this group and am delighted to hear that this two-year mark has been reached.

As you note, it can be kind of quiet in here at times, but I don't think that the group has every snubbed anyone who posted looking for feedback. In a post-college world it can be hard to find readers willing to give one's work a thorough going-over, so a resource like the Writer's Group is very close to priceless.

In addition, we've seen that even this informal gathering can really come together to mourn the passing of one of our own. Such sincere outpourings of selfless compassion demonstrate very clearly that writing is a community effort, rather than a competition.
