| How do you work pagination in Microsoft Word? |
|
On my Word Perfect there are different options for next page or page break, continous etc., but I can't figure out Microsoft Word's format.
Maybe what I should ask, is what is the correct way to put it together for manuscript form if it's a 275 page book?

| 1. In Office 2003, it's under the menu "Insert" |
|
then "Page Numbers". We have Office 2007 at work, so I'll have a look there if that's the version you're asking about :)

I can't describe it exactly, since it's been several months that I tried, but I typed up a manuscript for my dad and I could never seem to automatically get the chapters to started on the left, or was it right? It's hard when the first chapter always has to begin with a number on the bottom of the page. It's the way he wanted it.

I was just playing around with MS Word 2007 and though it's still a pain to navigate the "ribbon bars" (then "new & improved" menu format) it does seem to be more versatile for formatting to different page-numbering and chapter formats. I did not try what you are wanting because I think I'm still a bit confused about the format. Are you talking about formatting for front and back printing? I think I understand about the need for the chapters to always start near the bottom of the page, though I'm not sure how to format for that. You may just have to experiment until it works (or doesn't work.)
I do wonder if OpenOffice has a similar function within it. I have never used it, so I don't know about that.
