When parents come to visit, forget them pesky medical emergencies... then it becomes near impossible... it is hard to find time.
My strategy is to wake up earlier and just go out for coffee and WRITE.
Now with medical emergency... well doing some editing on a short... at the hospital. Working at the hospital on a novel is a good joke.
So what are your strategies?

I've started my Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing today. I've struggled with his for some time. I think the best way in stime of stress is to, reluctantly, cut the number of words you want to write. Sit down, write 500 words of a novel, then go about your normal emergency.
Take a writing pad into the John. Usually, I reserve that for reading, but...

just took five days to edit one, and about ten to do the first draft.
I used the IPOD for that... easier to find the time than try to bring the computer on line and off line.
