It's wonderful to have such a supportive person in your life.
When writing is your passion, doing nothing else but can be very rewarding. Thanks to my SO, I've had that opportunity here and there. It's wonderful to wake up in the morning and spend the day thinking about your works in progress.

I've had periods of full-time writing before, but there was always the looming prospect/fear that it would all end and I'd have to go back to the reality of full-time work. Which is what always happened in the past.
I didn't think I'd have to wait till retirement to be a full-time writer. I really thought it would come decades before this. In some ways, this is a defeat: I didn't become a full-time writer because of writing success but because of age and Social Security! But I'm walking on air, anyway. I'd be leaping about like a spring deer if not for my damned knees. :)
