Odd thing I saw at the pharmacy today

As I was refilling my meds, I noticed a mousepad next to the computer. It advertised FREE VIAGRA if you fill six prescriptions (I almost typed "sex prescriptions...").

I'm curious. Can you get FREE BIRTH CONTROL to go with the FREE VIAGRA? If not, why not?

A pharmacist is not a physician. It was my understanding that only M.D.s and a particular level of nurse (LPN?) were granted prescription-writing authority.

Smells like a significant liability issue to me.
