Kyl: FEDERAL Laws To Restrict/Ban Abortion If USSC Overturns/Weakens Roe |
|
Did any of you catch Senator Kyl after Bush**ler announced the Roberts nomination?
He was talking about passing FEDERAL laws to restrict partial birth abortion and impose other restrictions if Roe were weakened. By extension, we can assume that would be a Federal abortion ban if Roe is overturned.
Everyone seems to assume that abortion is safe in the blue states (and too bad about anyone in the South who needs one), but if Roe falls, Congress could ban it everywhere.
(Sorry, no link, I saw it on CSPAN)

1. Such a law would be unconstitutional |
|
and the type of Court that would overturn Roe would probably recognize that on the basis that a state's abortion law has nothing to do with inter-state commerce.
It would take a constitutional amendment to outlaw abortion nation-wide.

2. The Court Might Also Issue a Total Ban from the Bench |
|
If we get a USSC majority that believes that a zygote is a person, they would make abortion illegal in all cases, even to save the mother's life.

3. Conservatives won't control congress and the white house forever. |
|
I suspect there would be federal laws going in our favor if the extreme right really gets what it wants (including outlawing IUDs and the pill.)

4. As long as the dominionists control the voting machines ................. |
|
then they will by definition control the House, the Senate, the White House, and the Supreme Court. Game, set, match.
