Planned Parenthood centers across the country will dispense free emergency contraception on Wednesday, December 6, 2006! Obviously, the purpose is to advertise the fact that Plan B is now available without a prescription.

The Memphis Regional Planned Parenthood's health center is located at 1407 Union Avenue. It will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on December 6th. No appointment is necessary.

here are quite a few stories about the free Plan B day (December 6) in other states. The Des Moines Register reports that a pack of Plan B "will be available free to anyone 18 or older at each of Planned Parenthood's 15 Iowa medical centers." Women under 18 will also be able to receive the free birth control "after fill out paperwork at a clinic and participat in a counseling session with medical staff.

A two-pill pack usually retails for about $42.
