Of the 104 specialty license plates available in Florida, none provokes as much emotion as the bright yellow tag featuring two smiling children and the words ``Choose Life.''
It was fiercely debated by state lawmakers, vetoed by one governor before it was signed by another, then tied up for a year in court.
Now, more than six years after the tag first went on sale, abortion-rights advocates are raising money for a tag of their own.
The Orlando chapter of the National Organization for Women announced the winning design of a nationwide contest last month: a human figure, surrounded by stars, with the message ''United for Choice.'' The group is trying to raise $70,000 for the application fee and a required survey demonstrating that at least 30,000 people would buy it.
