It's true. Some in the pro-life movement really think people should have less sex. |

Right, I agree. I love children, family and life the more of all of these the better.

4. It reminds me of this passage from A Free Man's Worship by Bertrand Russell. |

http://users.drew.edu/~JLENZ/br-fmw.htmlAnd seeing the present was bad, he (man) made it yet worse, that thereby the future might be better. And he gave God thanks for the strength that enabled him to forgo even the joys that were possible.

Anti-abortionists are people you wouldn't want to f*** in the first place.
If you're going to use "logic" like that, how about this: To reduce pregancies and abortions, encourage homosexual behavior.
Or how about this, Mary Boyert: Ask your Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta to preach the gospel of "Let's discourage priests from having so much sex with helpless children." Now that's a reduction in sex that the whole country could get enthused about.

10. LESS sex?? Hell, they want people who aren't married to have NO sex. |
|
I've been told on more than one occasion that, even at age 52, I had no business having sex because I wasn't married. They expect people to turn into dried up old virgins and simply do without. I say FUCK YOU AND THE BIBLE YOU RODE IN ON, lol.

Sometimes I think a large part of the divide might be that some people have very low sex drives and most have normal to high sex-drives. The former can't understand why everybody just can't just abstain when they can. To them, also, a normal or high sex drive could only be explained not by hormonal levels, but by a decision to sin. They also don't have any idea why everyone can't use the rhythm method. People like that seem pretty smug to me because they credit their self-control. I mean, even if they have twelve kids, they've probably had sex only thirteen times, and it felt pretty good at least half the time. How do you explain the sensations of foreplay and orgasm to somebody who has never been able to feel them that intensely, who wonders why everyone is so obsessed with sex?
I know for a fact that behind the anti-choice thinking is a premise that the root of the problem is sin, and that the first sin in the process is sex, rather, improper sex, which leads to the sin of murder (abortion). They don't want to prevent births; otherwise, they would be embracing birth control. No, they want to stop sin. You can't win by arguing practicality with them; they see a different problem than what pro-choice people see.

I'm not a fundie or anything but I do not really "get" the importance of sex or why people want it so much. I get that I'm different from most people in that regard and I must have a very low sex drive, so perhaps a drive like that combined with fundie tendancies can produce that mindset.

18. I favor sex education. |
|
I want people to learn all the different ways to protect themselves.
However, the idea that one can't keep from having sex is bogus. I understand that sex is a really wonderful experience. However, it's important to keep from having babies until ready. If that means not having sex sometimes (or all the time), then so be it.

there are different levels of self-control. The level I'm the most concerned about is simply waiting until one is an adult or at least a late teenager. There are some ages that are just too young to be having sex.
I also think one can get the pleasure they need in other ways. We do it all the time.
Anyway, self-control can also come in the form of simply waiting until they find somebody they really care about. We don't have to let our hormones control us on every date.
I also wonder whether one who can't ever refrain from having sex (because their hormones are controlling them that much) is the type of person who can *always* use birth control correctly.
If one wants to have sex on a just because basis, that's their business. However, I object to this concept that we can't control ourselves. We all have free will.

If you are a male and if they find out that you are a virgin, they'll perceive you as a gay male. If you are a female, they'll perceive you as a female lesbian, and teenage lesbians are more of risk of teen pregnancy.
