Actually, it was induced because the baby stopped developing two weeks prior. It was a fairly simple procedure with a bit of medication. But what if it had been later in my pregnancy? I may have had to deal with the same bullshit this guy and his wife did. And I would have been just as livid. Stupid, self-righteous pieces of shit like those women, who have NO CLUE what people are going through, standing out there... ugh it disgusts me to even think about it.

I hope he and his wife are able to have more children. The world needs more children with parents like them.

7. So sorry for your loss

As I watched this, I thought about a friend who found out when she was almost term that her fetus had a deformity and would die almost immediately after birth (she found out so late because she had no insurance and her minimal prenatal care did not include an ultrasound). As it was, she ended up laboring for 2 days and the baby died shortly after birth, but I could not imagine what it would have done to her to have faced these miserable wastes of oxygen.

and, if it happens again it may be for me. But at the moment it just feels like a temporary setback. However, later in the pregnancy I imagine it is so much worse because one would feel really connected to that baby. And to be called a murderer on top of everything else, well that's just beyond the pale.

I'm so sorry your friend had such a profound loss. It's almost too much to bear.

13. I knew a woman on the net years ago

who had gone to (I think it was) Tiller's clinic for a late-term abortion. Tests had disclosed that her fetus suffered from an extreme form of neural tube defect -- incompatible with life. She was subjected to the same vicious harassment from Tiller's stalkers.

When I knew her, on abortion discussion boards over a decade ago, she was drifting into the anti-choice camp, amazingly. She apparently carried "guilt" about what she had done, and her ambivalence was being cleverly and subtly exploited by the band of anti-choice activists who roved the net looking for people like her at the time. Had she not lived in a culture where she was surrounded by messages like the abortion clinic thugs throw at all women, and maybe specifically not had to endure that gauntlet of hatred, perhaps she would have had a better chance of doing the normal thing: grieving and getting on.

The reasons that this man's wife was there, the details behind his and her story, do not make the actions of these people any more or less disgusting.

Nobody has to justify the reasons behind their decision to have a legal medical procedure. Not to these assholes, not to the public, not to ANYONE.
