followed by alcohol and then tobacco. All are potential killers, meth's just quicker.
Pharmaceuticals are targeted poisons, nobody has ever disputed that. That is why they are prescribed by physicians who know just what has to be targeted.

mainly because of the many, many stupid things which can lead from alcohol abuse.
That said, I would never want another prohibition. You'd think we would have learned from it the first time, but of course not.

Did you know that the American Pharmaceutical Association building is the only building on the vast Washington Mall that is closed to the public?

pure MDMA is fairly harmless (as long as it is not overdone). Some raves are cool though, there are good electronic artists out there

I think your poll is slightly ambiguous. "The most dangerous" can mean different things. For instance, one could take it to mean the drug with the highest level of health risk to the individual taking it. Or someone may interpret it to mean the most dangerous in terms of consequences to society. There are many ways to look at that question given the wording - which may lead to different answers.
Undoubtedly heroin and methamphetamines can be extremely dangerous to the health of many individuals that use them. However, alcohol and tobacco probably have much higher costs to society as a whole.
Pharmaceuticals may have the greatest negative impact on society in terms of deaths per year and financial costs (I'm too lazy to look up the actual statistics), but they also have the greatest positive impact for many people as well.
As in most things in life, there are upsides and downsides to almost everything. But as for an answer to your poll question, I think alcohol is the most dangerous drug overall.

my doctor prescribed an antibiotic for me without even seeing me. He decided over the phone that I had tonsilitis and that the drug would do the trick (no, his name wasn't Frist). My mother made sure I took the medicine as prescribed--and I got worse, developed an extremely high fever and went into a coma and nearly died.
I've distrusted prescription drugs - and doctors who prescribe drugs at the drop of a hat - ever since.

Meth killed the hippy movement and has destroyed countless lives. Alcohol is very dangerous, I almost died once from drinking too much. Fuck Jager.

Hands down, followed by crack-cocaine and then heroin.
Alcohol is skewed, because there are so many users. Alcohol kills very slowly. It is alcohol+Driving that is so dangerous.

|
Edited on Thu Nov-08-07 11:11 PM by quantessd
That's silly. Alcohol has it's dangers, but heroin is far more deadly. Of all the people who use alcohol, how many die from it? Not many. Of all heroin users, a significantly bigger proportion of heroin users die from it, compared to alcohol.
Meth is the worst in terms of human disaster among the living and dead users.

|
but I voted pharms. You can never trust the companies pushing their meds.. countless cases of death in patients using new medications, etc. Alcohol comes in as a close second, for obvious reasons.
