Teacher arrested after recording device discovered in bathroom at Spanish Springs school

Washoe County School District sure knows how to pick 'em. Since the last name of this person, not a common last name, is the same as a person who was once a principal now a "senior director of school performance" and the person who was the supervisor of the principal who wrongfully fired me two years ago, he must have been a nepotism hire:

A staff member discovered a recording device in a staff bathroom at Jesse Hall Elementary School in Spanish Springs and that led to the arrest of a teacher, the Washoe County School District said.

Terry Kristin Rauh, 43, was arrested by the school district police on Thursday afternoon and at his home and was booked into the Washoe County jail, the school district said today in a statement.

“It is not known at this time how long the device had been in the restroom nor how many potential victims are involved,” the school district said.

School police believe the recording device, which was not otherwise described, belonged to Rauh. The investigation continues.

As the article mentions, Rauh is on suspension. I wonder whether it is paid or unpaid.

I commit the "crime" of submitting a form in prematurely, and I get suspended without pay for eight months (before the hack hearing officer upholds a wrongful dismissal) so the district can settle with me. I didn't settle, of course. By rights Rauh should definitely be on unpaid leave for allegedly committing a real CRIME.

Actually I'd go further. Rauh should have been fired on the spot.

It's about time he got caught. I taught with him and he was pretty creepy then (1993). He had connections to get in the District, I hope they find him guilty and throw the book at him.

This criminal son of a bitch, who is in JAIL on 67 counts, is on PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE. I never received ANY paid leave over an FMLA form being sent prematurely; I was starved for months. The union lied about my UI eligibility and I had to go on food stamps until I realized I COULD get UI.

But his relative is apparently a bigwig with the district, the senior director of student performance, another do-nothing job, so Terry baby gets coddled. His relative was at my investigative interview, and I will never forget the stern, serious look on this asshole's face when I was being interrogated over NOTHING.

A local sixth grade teacher is caught on video for allegedly placing a small camera in the staff bathroom at Jesse Hall Elementary School.

43-year-old Terry Rauh is in jail on ten counts of "Capturing an Image of a Private Area," after one of his coworkers found the recorder earlier this week. According to video evidence that dates back to January, investigators say the camera may have recorded the private parts of dozens of teachers, staff members, parents, and even volunteers.


"I think it's disgusting. I really do," said Stacey Jim, a parent at Jesse Hall Elementary.

Washoe County School police say the camera, which was only about half the size of an iPhone, was taped inside of a toilet seat cover dispenser, but had somehow fallen to the ground.

10. What kills me is the local media reported

what Steve Mulvenon, spokesman for the WCSD said, which is that no students were involved in the allegations, thus somehow thinking what happened in the restroom with adults wasn't as serious as if it involved students.

Just about the ONLY thing worse than what happened is if students were involved. This is a criminal act and grounds for immediate revocation of Rauh's license.

But his sister-in-law or whatever she is, Lynn Rauh, is a bigwig with the district, so any excuse for this pervert is okay, including paying him while he is in JAIL.

11. Another report about this "highly regarded" pervert

After school on Wednesday, a teacher found a small recording device on the floor of the unisex rest room in the teacher's lounge. The following morning, school officials discovered the graphic images, and contacted school police. Their investigation concluded the recorder allegedly belonged to Rauh. He was arrested at his home on Thursday, as he was not present in school that day.

"Right now, if I were a parent, I would wonder whether my child was involved," Mulvenon said. "The investigation we have done, to date, indicates the intended victims were adults."

Mulvenon said the investigation as of Friday had revealed that no children were victimized. The recordings seem to be limited to adults, he said. No other devices were found in restrooms throughout the school. It was unknown how long the camera had been in the restroom or how long the recordings had been going on.

Officials said this was the first time something like this has happened in the school district.

It is not the only case of misconduct--real misconduct, not petty complaints--involving staff and administrators in this district. It's only that he got caught that makes this noteworthy.

The recording device was in a staff bathroom--not lunchroom--underneath the toilet seat dispenser. It fell on the floor, and a teacher found it. Apparently the images show various people's private parts. It's a tiny camera or camcorder, not an audio device.

I mean, SOME teachers are "falsely accused". I'm not saying this guy is, not by any means. But rules have to apply to all regardless of how one "feels" about it. "innocent until proven guilty" IS an American value, is it not?

I don't think his "relative" has one damn thing to do with it. It's the way the law - and the UNION CONTRACT - is written.

(I do, however, think "the relative" has a whole lot more to do with the fauxrage than the supposed crime, itself.)

22. Nothing new a week later

The district has already taken down its "announcement" regarding Rauh, and there has not been one single word about the latest in this case. It's been a week, and there has been nothing new reported. I'd be surprised at this late date Rauh is STILL being paid while in jail. The local media needs to get on this, not sitting around coddling this pervert because of who is relative is.

A comment on the KOLO-TV site says Rauh has been released from jail and is scheduled to be in court on Monday, May 10, at 8:15 a.m.

In his case, there SHOULD be a lawsuit filed by one or more people, but they don't do that. The lawyers find the most bogus cases they can find, and THEN invent tales of "negligence."
