U.S. Teachers Among Lowest Paid and Most Overworked in World |
|
In this infographic ( http://www.good.is/post/american-teachers-do-more-work-for-less-pay-than-their-international-peers) courtesy of the Future Journalism Project, American educators work the most hours of all industrialized nations, but are the fifth lowest paid after 15 years on the job. Only Luxembourg, Hungary, Iceland, and Norway pay their teachers less. Modern School http://modeducation.blogspot.com/2011/10/us-teachers-among-lowest-paid-and-most.html

I notice Finland, a current object of envy, is in the bottom third of that sampling in terms of hours worked. I'm guessing little of their time is wasted.
I also notice they're on the lower end of the spectrum wage-wise, too (But better than the US.) I'm not sure what to say about that except the Finnish taxpayers are obviously getting a lot for their money.

Not news to anyone who works as a teacher in this country. But of course, the stupid and deliberately ignorant will always blame teachers, because they're told to. And like true lackeys, they do what they're told by their masters.

administrators who get all the money. The teachers are all broke, making very little then spending it on classroom supplies that the school should be buying for them. The only teachers who do well are the department heads (because they've been there for 15 years or more) and the teachers whose spouses make big money.
It's such a shame we don't hold teachers in high regard, as they help shape our kids into capable and productive citizens.
