Troy Mayor once again slammed for her Gay slur.

On Saturday, news of Troy Mayor Janice Daniels' recently-unearthed Facebook status slamming gay marriage reached Zach Kilgore, a senior at Troy High School.

Kilgore said he immediately texted Skye Curtis, a Troy High School senior who founded the school's Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA), and they worked together to form a plan.

"My first thought was just, 'protest,'" Kilgore said, "so we went on Facebook and sent this around, and it went viral after that."

Kilgore said he sent the invitation to friends, who sent it to more friends, and it spread like wildfire. As of Sunday night, the Protest at City Hall Facebook event page had 111 confirmed attendees, and more than 4,500 people had been invited to the event.

1. I get excited when young people, especially those in high school, speak out on ethics.

I taught high school for 8 years and saw a great deal of ridicule, some outright physical bullying, and just general teasing and social torture.

There is a great NEED for young voices in response to our culture of abuse.
