Yesterday I was walking past the 'gay' church in our neighborhood |
|
i dont know if its gay like the christopher street church in that most of its constituents are lgbt, or if its just lgbtq welcoming. I just know, that it has always had a rainbow flag in front and a pflag sign as well.
Anyway, yesterday it had a huge sign that said "BLESS the 99%" and as i walked passed it I smiled and felt pretty positive about the world.
I realized that had more churches been like this one, maybe i would not be as bitter about religion as i am now. Don't get me wrong, I would still not believe in God but i think the general irritation i have with religion would probably not exist.

I live in S.W. Florida and over the summer on the baptist Church billboard outside it said "if you think it's hot right now, just wait. Ask us how to be saved". Then right past it on the on the Lutherans billboard it said "don't worry about being hot, Jesus is Kool!" they usually have competing billboards.
Now on the Lutherans billboard it says "we support the 99%" and underneath it is says "occupy our pews!" Gotta love them.
EDIT: recommended.
