www.clinicaltrial.gov and enter diabetes omega threes and diabetes D3 and check out the trials ongoing, the ones completed and try to find the results.

understanding what it's doing at the cellular level, and wondering what other disorders it might be useful for.
That it has been through/is going through clinical trials is helpful.
