1. I honestly wish I could say yes to this question |
|
but when I read things like the two subhumans microwaving a cat, I could flip the switch on these pieces a shit without blinking an eye.

The Elizabeth Pena and Jennifer Ertman case comes to mind. Jose Medellin and Derrick Sean O'Brien were the scum of the earth.

10. Unequivocal "no" (That's not the whole truth) |
|
I don't want our government to be in the killing business either.
I would however submitt that, after a trial and guilty verdict, given the opportunity, responsible citizens would step up to the plate to pull the trigger on the scum who have opted out of the human community.

17. Guilty verdicts aren't always correct(as well as not guilty verdicts) |
|
I couldn't support the DP because trials are more about winning then it is for finding out the truth. I'd rather let a bunch of guilty people walk free instead of executing a single person.

4. Could you make that question a little MORE biased? |
|
I'm not quite sure whether "state murder" is something bad or not.
Meanhwile, consider the number of people (actually, not just rhetorically) murdered by those who had already been convicted of a previous capital crime. Why is it presumably OK for those innocent people to die, but not those who have had trials and been found guilty?
Find me a 100% - and I mean truly 100% just like the DP is - way of making recidivism impossible as an alternative and I'll switch, but life without parole doesn't do it, supermax security doesn't do it, neither does anything else so far. Escapes, killings of guards or potentially redeemable inmates, early releases, executive pardons, all these get in the way.

7. Everyone's redeemable, I think giving them a month and one appeal gives them plenty of time. |

18. DP doesn't work either |
|
People are still killing each other, I'm sure there's been atleast 1 murder in all 50 states within the past day.

6. Might want to work on the phrasing of that question |
|
sounds about like prolifers setting up a poll asking: "are you in favor of murdering innocent little babies?"
And no, I don't think we should do away with "state murder". It should be reserved for the most extreme cases but it ought to be available to courts when necessary.

murderer's and rapists should be put to death immediately after a guilty conviction. IMO, there is no redemption from those types of crime.

11. The whole thing about rape |
|
As a court said not to long ago, what is the incentive then in keeping the victim alive? The rapist stands a better chance of getting away with the crime if he kills the victim and the punishment is no worse. But beyond that I still agree with the death penalty in murder cases, maybe the poll should be entitled "Are you in favor of Timothy McVeigh (sp?) living to an old age".

16. As far as Timothy McVeigh he is no longer paying for his crimes |
|
He's just simply dead. Sheeeeeeeeit if I was facing life in prison or death give me death. Primarily because I'm clastophopic(Spelling sorry), I'd likely hang myself before serving a term.

The term "murder" in the OP there is a misnomer.
I support a huge INCREASE in the use of execution. There are many, many violent offenders in prison who have re-offended and show no promise of this falsehood known as "rehabilitation". These people do not deserve the same freedoms we have, nor the same air we breathe.
Society should be unburdened of these scum, and oh by the way, our system is HUGELY flawed in that it costs so very much just to execute an evil individual, as opposed to feeding and housing them for 50 years. That is insane, illogical and ridiculous.
But yes, there should be more execution, not less. It would deterr others, and altogether remove those who wish to continue a life of violent crime.

15. It's only a misnomer because Murder means unlawful killing of another human being |
|
If the DP was illegal then it would be murder to use a DP. However it is homicide, homicide is the act of killing another human being. Whether it's criminal, justified, or state sanctioned is the difference but either way it's homicide.

because while I feel uneasy about the prospect of putting an innocent person to death there are certain individuals that are not worthy of life. However, that being said. I think that we need to implement strict standards on who can get the death penalty. There must be DNA evidence and it must have a higher standard than reasonable doubt. We need to be absolutely certain that who is put to death was guilty.
