After a court appearance on Tuesday,
Ismael Cesda "somehow ended up in a section where inmates are released" despite having been charged with auto theft and evading arrest and having a federal immigration hold (he's suspected of being here illegally). Cesda then vanished.
What happened:
Ismael Cesda, 21, was arrested Saturday by Fremont police. He was one of six suspects in a Toyota Highlander who led officers on a chase through city streets until the SUV, which had been stolen from Dublin Toyota, crashed into a center median, said police Detective Bill Veteran.
Ick. Bad enough that Maurice Clemmons got to pay only $19,000 for a $150k bail bond and then kill four cops. And now a security goof loosens this monster from justice. Another offense (with dire consequences for others) seems to be the most likely way he'll get caught again if a manhunt fails.
