I'm in law school and hoping to have at least some focus on civil rights in my practice (if I ever make it out of this place alive), so hopefully this forum will be a good source of information and encouragement.

edited to add: BTW, your use of words "you guys" means what? That you are assuming that "civil rights" do not apply to you? Thus, only to others in this "Race & Equality" forum? Or that "you guys" means you are indicating other than yourself? ?????

10. Are you sure?

I'm anything but an expert, but I thought that (whatever it is technically defined to mean) the term "civil rights" is usually used to refer specifically to rights connected with racial equality, and still more specifically to refer to the struggle for black rights in the 60's and 70's, and those elements of the ongoing struggle for black rights that have their roots in that period?

I have always felt like an outsider and as a result been sympathetic to all oppressed people. I hope that there is meaningful discussion here.
