Moral Imperatives regarding Guest Workers: Universal or Provincial? |
|
What is the "self" in "self-determination" when we are talking about a country? Is a guest worker part of the "self" that is the country where the guest worker is working?
Suppose that a guest worker in Saudi Arabia becomes a biological parent while in Saudi Arabia.
Would it be wrong for the government of Saudi Arabia to deliberately revoke the parent's status as a guest worker before the child comes close to the age when the child can legally work at least part-time?
Would it be wrong for the government of Saudi Arabia, without some special justification, to forbid the child from working in Saudi Arabia?
Would it be wrong for the government of Saudi Arabia to deny Saudi citizenship to the child who was born in Saudi Arabia?
Would it be wrong for the government of Saudi Arabia to prevent the guest worker from bringing into Saudi Arabia biological children of the guest worker who were born before the guest worker started working in Saudi Arabia?
