Racism.. Fact Sheets? Best facts 2 refute racism wanted by oscar |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 12:38 PM by oscar111
Please let me know of the very best short summary.. Fact Sheet... of the best evidence to convert racists away from racism.
Hopefully, the FS.. FACT SHEET.. would also have sociological journal studies referenced , but that is not absoutely necessary.
I see racism as the main source of GOP victories. So, we need the ultimate FS, to be the main thing to use in getting some dem victories.
Eventually, in getting our act together, we need a brief ultimate FS, and also a more thorough FS to go into some detail on facts that feed into the main issues.
This is the approach taken, the ideal seen, by the French Encyclopaediasts in the seventeen hundreds.
We need , on the tip of our tongue, the best arguments against every point the racists make.
This will bring the best arguments out of the heads of lifelong experts, and put them into the minds of the millions of activists who can win watercooler discussions.
thanks

You want to fight irrational xenophobic hatred with something logical? If this were something that could be reasoned with, it wouldn't be a problem in the first place, don't you think?

2. You've got to be taught hate and fear |
|
and so it is an uphill battle to combat racism. What one needs to do is to shatter the racists' concept.
One way to do this is to find out if the racist actually knows anyone of the group they hate. A lot of time, they don't. Have examples ready of people of the group they hate who have helped them or people they know or affiliate with. (Around here, that would be the local heart doctor who is Arab, or the African American who has helped the local college win a baseball pennant.)

But as long as these people continue to get their propaganda with Faux News and Rush Limpballs.
We have to counter the crap with the facts...and footage..
For example: FauxNews should be labled as a Propaganda network...everyone knows it but the repugs count on the dems to shutup and say nothing....
During Katrina they made it seem that all of the (black) people stayed in their homes because they were all too lazy to work and because of that they didn't have cars...they were stupid to ride out the storms
This should have been refuted immedietly with many people don't own cars because the New Orleans city transportation was excellent so no one needed cars.
But for the whites that were in Mississippi 5 feet from the shore who rode out the storm there was not a word said.
Every time they do a racist slanted story it should be immedietly confronted with facts....by the water cooler and visually.

5. A lie is halfway around the world... |
|
before the truth has its boots on. The major problem is that the racists and the ignorant have stacks of "facts" to throw at any given moment. They also have stupidity and intellectual dishonesty on their side. This is how they can say that Candidate Alito was being subjected to "racism" when there have been no recent reports of Italian-Americans being dragged behind trucks or beaten and tied to fence posts and left to die.
A great deal of reading and verbal sparring are required to both become familiar with the issue and dealing with stupid people. That's time and practice. In the meantime, here are some recent events and surrounding facts:
-The US government can respond to crises halfway 'round the world, e.g. the Indonesian tsunami and Philippine mudslide, in less than 48 hours, but needed 5 days to reach New Orleans and the US Gulf Coast--why?
-In the evacuation of Houston and the Texas coast because of Hurricane Rita, the interstates were jammed for hours, proving both that the rapid evacuation of urban areas is pretty close to impossible and New Orleans could not have done any better. Yet, there's no acknowledgement of those events--why?
-Most of the major state universities' undergraduate population is in the range of 4-8% black, on average, yet in the affirmative action case against the admission policies of the U. of Michigan, the plaintiffs argued that minorities with lower test scores were admitted ahead of them. Based on the above facts, one of their fellow whites would have been MORE likely to be admitted than a minority candidate, but they didn't argue THAT point--why?
In my experience, it won't stop the the feeling of entitlement of racial caste society, or even change any minds, but may force them to think about their beliefs and prejudices. That should be a good start.
