2. I am over 65 and on Medicare. |

Medicare becomes your primary coverage on that birthday and may not cover as much as your regular private insurance may have covered. Thats why it is so important to have secondary coverage that will pay for the things Medicare doesn't cover. Check with your current insurer and see if they have a secondary coverage policy for you. If not, shop around....there are lots of plans and I think they are reasonably priced.
My original medical insurance literally covered everything, medical, dental, prescription drugs, eyeglasses, psychology and psychiatry, in patient, out patient, drugs, etc etc etc. I automatically switched it to backup when Medicare took over and together both plans are doing what one did....cover literally everything.

3. I'm wrestling with that paperwork now |
|
After decades of full coverage with a corporate insurance plan and a fantastic medical provider, I am trying to figure out how it's going to work with Medicare. My medical provider does not accept Medicare, but says that I can still use them, only I will have to file the paperwork myself and pay the difference after my secondary kicks in. My first insurer now becomes my secondary insurer, with several options that I have to decide on. It seems it would be easier to choose a new medical provider who accepts medicare, just to avoid all the paperwork and keep the costs low. But I hate to give up on the great medical care I've been getting.
I guess you had an easier time with it then I'm having.

4. I'm 65, just started collecting SS in May. |

I'm still working full-time, mainly for my health insurance through my job. It is excellent. I have medical, dental, eye care, life insurance all for less than $100 a month. Plus my co-pay is only $15 and prescriptions are no more than $15 each, sometimes $5 is they have a generic.
