I think I'm not as hot natured as I used to be, and my weight hasn't changed. |
|
I'm approaching 60.
Has anyone else experienced this?

2. Yes. At twenty I was miserable on 85ºF days. |
|
Now, I'll say something like "You know, there's a huge difference between mowing the lawn when it's 94ºF and when it's only 88ºF. This change has been in the last ten years. Ten years ago I would have felt like I was about to pass out mowing the lawn on a 94ºF (our highest temp as a rule) day, but now I just sweat like a pig and persevere. I also used to keep my house at 74, and I would find that chilly. I rarely used heat in the winter, and now I sometimes turn it on if the inside temp goes below 68. At 68, I'm in a sweat shirt and maybe a throw if I'm watching TV.

If you find this to be a problem for you, you may wish to have your hormone levels checked. You are at the age where hormone changes (in men as well as women) can change. BTW, I am warmer than I used to be--but then I found I have hypothyroidism, and it is now treated. Even though weight gain is an indication of underactive thyroid, there are other indications as well--dry flaky skin, loss of the outer third of your eyebrows, etc. Your doctor can give you a simple reflex test to see if your thyroid is working.

7. Would you believe I just typed a nice answer to your statement |
|
and thank heaven I reread your post. Needless to say, I deleted my whole thing. I thought I read that you were not as good natured as you used to be and it was that point I was addressing.
Three cheers to you if you have mellowed out. I wish I could say the same. Some lives get easier, some harder. Both affect our dispositions.
I have a few years on you, maybe that is part of it. Keep smiling!

8. After having been in Belize a lot the last few months, this heat with low humidity seems cool. |
