My wife got a check about a month ago from Medicare for $250, for

the donut hole in her prescriptions plan. She is the only senior I know that has gotten one. Anyone have any info about that?

My mother hasn't gotten a check, but she hadn't hit the "hole" as of the end of August, which was the last statement she got. A couple of purchases this month of expensive things NOT available in generic form (Plavix, Zetia) probably put her over the top.

I wonder if a lot of seniors are in her position and don't hit the "hole" until late in the year?

2. People are supposed to get it when they hit the hole, I believe.

5. Well, I get three prescriptions a year so that probably leaves me out. My

wife gets a lot of 'em so thats why she got the check

when I hit the donut hole. A little help but not a lot, without the med coverage, I have to fork out over 600 bucks out of pocket for my meds.....and have this month and November and December to go before the medicare prescription coverage kicks back in in January.
