I have been searching for a forum to post on. |
|
I might be in the wrong place. My Grand mother who is 98 years old now, had two strokes on Sunday. Up until now she has had physical issues, but no brain issues. She has out lived all of her friends, and her husband by 29 years. She is fortunate, still living in her home of nearly 80 years now. Home, with all of her family around her. I live a ways away, and I'm trying to figure how to get there, and spend a few days with her. I can not afford to miss work, and be with her, But I will do it. I'm going up on thursday, for a day or two, or three. My sister is flying in from AZ that day, and she and I will have that time together also. But I have two cats, and fish that need love, and attention, a couple of times a day. And the one who has done this for me before, is not available to help me now. What do I do? :(

1. I don't know how much traffic this forum gets. |
|
You might try posting it in the Lounge; we're famous for helpful ideas.
However it is quite late over the whole USA; you might want to wait till later. I didn't look to see where you are...
Can you board the cats?
And have someone take the fish? Unless they're in a huge tank. Or is there a commercial enterprise that you could hire?
I would very seriously consider that maybe you shouldn't go. I know it's hard.
Will your boss give you time off?
My sympathies to you at this difficult time.

I think I can manage the two cats, and fish to be taken care of. AT work, I probably can work that out too. But when It comes to $ I live from one moment to another. For a while now things have worked out okay. With, $ job, and such. My personal relationships are another issue. But that is life. I just want to lay on my Gramms bed and hold her, and tell her I love her. And spend a few days with Sharon, my sister, who I don't see very often. Parents, and other family. Thank you again, CaliforniaPeggy.

3. Cats do fine with a big bowl of dry food and plenty of water. |

Two or three days isn't a problem. You'll have a litter box to clean, though, when you get back. I don't know what kind of fish you have, but they'll probably be fine, too, and there are feeders available at any aquarium shop that will release food automatically over time.
