FISA, the 4th Amendment and Abortion Rights. |
|
Edited on Sat Jun-28-08 10:40 AM by John Q. Citizen
The recent legislation passed in the US House and currently expected to pass the Senate and to be signed into law by the so -called president allows for the collection of information by our government without a court ordered warrant or meaningful judicial review. Most constitutional experts have interpreted this proposed law as weakening 4th amendment rights prohibiting invasive government intrusion into citizens private lives.
This should alarm proponents of abortion rights. Roe v Wade was decided based on what the supreme court said was an inferred right to privacy in the US constitution, based in large part on the 4th amendment.
When our government weakens the 4th amendment, they weaken one of the major under-pinnings of Roe v Wade.

1. I'm sure the new tools that this FISA bill give our govt. will |
|
weaken a whole lot of freedoms. Why does our own government hate our freedoms? What is going on?
