Dear God. A "Man's Roe V. Wade?" You have to see it to believe it. |

1. I agree with you. I can't believe some of the replies on that thread. |
|
Seems there are a lot of men on this board who want to have either ultimate say over whether a woman has a child/abortion, or they want to be able to legally opt-out (abandon) their child. ugh.

What the hell does this have to do with race? Anything to change the subject. It's sickening.

3. race? I really wonder about some of the people - sounds like they have |

had some really bad personal experiences with women. Or ... they have a friend/relative who claims they were duped into having sex, and so forth.
Funny how many men on that thread think and actually say the child support is for the woman. As if this is prize money we get for duping them.
I tried to agree with the OP. It is true that ultimately the woman has the final say. At least in 2006 U.S., it's true. So what? is my reply. I mean, really, what do they suggest as an alternative? Nothing reasonable.

7. The "opt out " answer is absurd of course, |

but it is a valid question.
If the woman gets all the choice (as she should and must and will continue to do) why doesn't she get all the consequence? The objection to men having any (final) say in the abortion decision is , rightly, that he doesn't have the right to control the woman's body and life (i.e. force her to have the child). Yet she gets exactly that control over his life if she so chooses.
The problem is , of course, that babies are not born in to philosophical ethics books. They are born in to the real world where they have real needs. That the arrangement isn't fair is absolutly correct but, the child getting the support it needs is much more important than fairness.

9. Oh, I agree, it isn't necessarily fair, but reality isn't always fair. |
|
I mean, what does the OP want? There is no "fairness' in this situation. But there isn't "fairness' in many situations. While some situations can be changed, this one, at present time, can not be changed. Sorry, it's the way Mother Nature made it. However, since men pretty much dominate everything else, I don't think asking for the right to dominate my own body is asking too much.
It's a shame reality is vacant for some of these folks over there. :eyes:

It's amazing how many men feel USED when some woman pays them the incredible compliment of going through with a pregnancy they started.
I guess if they don't feel they control the whole process, they feel emasculated.
Hey guys! It's a LIABILITY thing. You drop a load in a woman's body, you are LIABLE for the outcome. She assumes the physical risk of either abortion or childbirth. Your risk is ONLY MONEY.
Either drop that load in a condom or face the consequences. Your choice, fellahs.

..but it's certainly any thinking person's responsibility, whether you're male or female. If you're gonna jump, then wear a damn parachute. Jeez. The mantra of "Aw, don't worry. Nothin's gonna happen" has been proven to be singularly ineffective.
