The greatest legacy of the Ford admin... |
|
is the work his wife Betty did to destigmatize breast cancer and substance addiction. Prior to her "coming out" about her cancer, it was considered such a stigma to have breast cancer that many women lied about or covered up their diagnoses. She opened the door to awareness, which has contributed millions of dolars towards finding a cure. She also made it possible for those with substance abuse/addiction issues to enter rehab without stigma. these were both issues that needed to be swept out from under the carpet. She changed the lives of millions with her courageous actions. Too bad her husband was a dim bulb.

He studied liberal arts at U of M followed by a part-time position as an asst. coach at Yale. He applied to Yale to study law, they permitted him to do so and after a short probationary period he was allowed to study full time as he had proven he could handle the material. Graduated from Yale in the top third of his class. Opened a law practice with a peer but closed it upon enlisting in the military (1942). Left the military a full Leutinent. Returned to begin a life in law and politics. Married, raised four children.
