For both parties, who are the top three presidential candidates on poverty? Who are the three worst? |

1. For Republicans they're all bad! |
|
But I think Edwards would be the top. Maybe Kucinich would be next, then and then all the rest.
Edwards is the one who made poverty a focus of his campaign.

2. I'm thinking Edwards, Kucinich, Gore are the best Democrats on this issue, and Richardson, Biden, |
|
Hillary, and Gravel are among the worst (now that Vilsack has dropped out), but I'm not sure which of those four are the worst on poverty issues. I'm not too sure where Clark stands on some poverty issues, but he's pretty good on the issues where his position is known. Dodd is good on a lot of issues, but not as good on poverty as he is on other questions.
On the Republican side, Romney and Huckabee seem a bit better than the field (but only because the field is filled with crazy-nuts far right-wing extremists).

4. Edwards is the ONLY one talking about poverty, and the only one taking action! |
|
I wish that weren't the case, but there it is.

He is the only candidate (in the Democratic or any party) addressing poverty and has a plan to eliminate poverty in 30 years... reducing it by 1/3 in 10 years, 2/3 in 20 years. He has been director of the UNC School of Law's Poverty Center until he announced his candidacy for 08. He's been heavily involved w/ACORN. He's been heavily involved w/the fight for a Minimum Wage increase. He's been out on the picket lines w/service workers. This man walks the walk.
Other Democratic candidates on poverty?

Not a peep out of any of them.
The worst Democratic candidate? Mike Gravel wins that honor, hands down, w/his plan to eliminate income tax in favor of sales tax. If Clinton continues policies similar to her husband's (such as NAFTA & welfare 'reform'), we are doomed if she's the nominee.
Top republican candidates on poverty? 0 candidates from the Robber Baron Party... every one of those bastards will only make things worse in this country.
Worst republican candidate? Giuliani. He would gentrify every inch of this country if given the opportunity. We'd be heading for Mexico!
