Some local governments are making it impossible for homeless people to even pitch their own tents outside, running them off. It's tragic and unamerican to let this happen to our neighbors. I wish there was an obvious and quick solution to end poverty, but I have a job to keep of my own so I cannot spend alot of time helping others. Sad situation.

2. Do you have time to make a 2-minute phone call? Send an email? |
|
Yes?
Then, you can join the campaign to get more low-income housing.
NO?
Then, how much time are you spending on DU saying you don't have time?

I volunteer for many local organizations in my town. You shouldn't jump on someone whom you do not know. I was honest with my reply and I am on the same side you are.

4. That's fine. Remember, though, there is a difference between CHARITY and JUSTICE. |

And, nobody "jumped" on you.
If you feel "jumped", I ask you to look at the hostile responses those of us who are poor get here at DU.
What I was saying is that you can take the time you spend at DU to become more conversant with the issues, and make calls and emails that will have a real effect.
We are forgotten.
