http://etna.mcot.net/query.php?nid=21724PHICHIT, May 13 (TNA) - Rising fuel prices in Thailand have led to increased numbers of people in this northern province to change their diets, as the public switch to eating vegetarian fare, instead of more expensive meat and seafood.
According to Adul Srisuthep, a committee member of the Phichit Vegetarian Foundation, the market prices of meat and seafood in Phichit rose Bt5-10 per kilogram following the sharp increase in oil prices which had raised the cost of living, affecting consumers heavily.
In order to lessen hardship for the public, the foundation is now selling vegetarian food at Bt10 per bag and brisk sales are seen, he said.
A random survey of customers said vegetarian food is better as it is less expensive and tastes just as good as meat-based meals.
