This isn't veg related, but in September I stepped on the scale & realized I was very close to qualifying to be on The Biggest Loser. I guess it was the kick in the butt I needed. I started exercising & cleaned up my diet. In 10 weeks I dropped 20 pounds. Unfortunately, since Thanksgiving we have had cold weather & lots of snow, so my walking program has suffered, however, I've stuck with the weights. Still, I've been dreading today's weigh in. I was determined not to get depressed, even if I had gained back 3-5 pounds, so imagine my surprise to find I've lost an additional pound! Whoot!
I am loving weight training! Twenty pounds off, 30 to go & I'm psyched!

It feels good to be in control doesn't it? :) I thought perhaps you'd like to know there is a weight loss and maintenance group on DU. You're welcome to join us! :toast: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=337aA kesha

I start my diet (weight watchers- the best IMHO) and walking this week. I hope I do as well as you have.
Thanks for the inspiration! :hi:

| 6. I have always scoffed at a walking program, until this year. |
|
I discovered a steep hill with a nice wide sidewalk that is maintained & even plowed after snowfall! It's about a 1/4 of a mile away from my house & gets very little foot traffic. I walk up & down & up & down & get in a sort of Zen like state. It has been excellent exercise & I have found that getting outdoors & walking really helps my overall mood. If I miss more than 3 days, I get cranky, & Jeff reminds me I need to get my butt over to my hill. ;) And as soon as I do, my mood improves immediately!
Good luck to you, too! Maybe we can check in on occasion & offer moral support.
