| Teese...our experiment gone awry |
|
We ordered the Teese with very high expectations. Sadly, our experiment seems to have gone wrong. I'm hoping that someone can tell me what we did or did not do correctly.
Convection Oven preheated to 450. Pie crust made. Pie crust baked 5 minutes to firm it. Pie crust loaded up with barbecue sauce, vegan "chicken" strips, and onions. Shredded Teese topped the pizza. The pizza was put into the convection oven for 15 minutes. When the time elapsed the pizza was taken out of the oven but the Teese was still sitting on top of the pizza in shreds, barely melted at all.
I've seen the pictures here and on the website. Ours turned out nothing like them so I'm assuming we did something wrong. Any clues or suggestions?
Thank ya kindly.

| 1. Try bumping the temp up a bit. |

I find it melts right around 475, but my oven's a bit dodgy, so ymmv.
Worst case scenario: flip your broiler on right before it's done, and let that melt the cheese. Just watch closely, to avoid burning anything, and you'll probably need to let the pizza cool for a few minutes afterward.

| 2. Yeah, I agree with LeftyMom. |

The first time we set the oven at 500 and we used way too much of it (I think in our excitement we went a little crazy). Some of it didn't fully melt. The next time we were more restrained with the Teese *and* we set the oven to its highest temp - 550 - and success! :9
We don't have a convection oven, though, so maybe you need to bake it a bit longer? Good luck!
