| Dreaming of eating meat??? |
|
Yee gads, I have had two of the most bizarre dreams in the past two weeks -- in them I found myself eating some sort of meat (first one beef ribs, the other chicken nuggets). I was so shocked by the second one I actually woke myself up out of sleep before I could take a second bite!
What the HECK is going on????
I've been a veggie for 20 years and have never had this sort of dream before.
Having done a lot of dream analysis in therapy, I have tried to look at the dreams to uncover a meaning/message, but am coming up pretty much emptyhanded. The only thing that pops up for me is that I have been doing a great deal of very heavy manual labor that has been taking a toll on me -- I wonder if I am not eating well enough to compensate. Besides protein, is there anything else meat/chicken would provide I might be missing??
Your thoughts?

| 1. Allegedly, dreaming of eating meat |
|
means you're getting to the heart of something. Maybe the manual labor is part of it.

| 3. Hmmm, that is very interesting. |

I will put some thought into that and see what I come up with. I am renovating the house I grew up in so I can get another roommate in to help my retired Mom some extra income. It is bringing up a lot of things for review. Thanks! :hi:

Even eating some of the fake "meats" makes me a bit gaggy at times. I very, very rarely get cravings -- about the only time I do is when I pass a Burger King -- I was a big fan of their burgers. :( :puke:
Maybe omega 3s is what you are craving from the fish?? Veggies can have a hard time getting that.

| 5. Have you tried making a substitute? |
|
In my experience mashing up some chickpeas and adding kelp flakes and then whatever stuff you normally add to tuna creates something creepily similar.

But I still dream of eating a juicy filet mignon or a pork chop. I used to love pork chops and pork roasts.

and not ashamed to say I fucking LOVE meat. Love it rare and smothered in A1. It tastes good - damned good - but I still don't eat it. Nothing wrong with being willing to admit that something upon which most of us were raised still tastes great.

| 10. It's almost impossible not to get enough protein unless you are literally starving. |
|
Seriously. A protein deficiency in someone who is eating adequate amounts of food is called kwashiorkor and is found mostly in areas of famine. It is very rare and isolate in the US, mostly in neglected/abused children.
But you might want to supplement your iron and B vitamins, particularly B12, especially if all that manual labor hasn't left you with the time and energy to eat a balanced, varied diet.
Also consider the possibility that there really isn't anything in meat you are short on, but if you believe there may be, that could be enough to trigger dreams.

| 11. I have iron deficient anemia right now ---- |
|
have battled it for the past two years. I have been feeling terrible recently, like I am way down on my stores. I just started back on iron suppliments, maybe I'll add some B12 to the mix and see how I am feeling. :hi:

| 12. Ah, makes sense. Try the sublingual B12.dots |
|
It works great - and fast - to help you absorb the iron.
I have to take iron pills, too. It's nothing to do with my veganism because I had problems with anemia when I was a meat-eating young'un. The B12 make a big difference, though.
Good luck, HHNF! I hope you feel a lot better speedy-quicko! Keep us posted on how you're doing.

| 13. dream analysis ideas.... |
|
I have known some pretty astute dream analyzers, who usually tell you to look at what is going on in your life now, as well as looking at traditional dream imagery. going out on a limb here- you are getting down to the 'ribs of the house'- that might be the 'bones' of your childhood. Maybe the renovation is bringing up issues from your past. What does the house symbolize to you? Are these comfort foods of your youth that you are dreaming about? Maybe you want go back and do something you used to do in your youth? Or is about now- consuming something that you shouldn't be taking in?
ok- I sound like an asshole, but if YOU talk it out to yourself, (maybe after you've thought about it and then let your mind wander a bit), maybe it will help you figure out just what your subconscious is trying to bring to your attention. :) I enjoy trying to puzzle out my own occasionally bizarre dreams, to finally get to a point that is usually as plain as the nose on my face, if I'd just pay attention.
